tiling the fireplace

we're making progress - we tiled the fireplace hearth.DSC_0832
i spent way too much time deciding the perfect layout for the marble tiles.

i discovered that cutting marble tile is a lot more difficult than cutting ceramic tile. the tiles kept breaking. good thing i only had to make a few cuts.

laser levels and chalk lines are you friends when tiling.

we might need to move tiling the rest of the fireplace higher up on our project to-do list...

all we have left to do is grout!

That looks great! We purposely avoided doing hearth tiles in our brand new fireplace (just unveiled today, right here!) because it was too complicated to work it into our existing floor. But I love how yours looks and can't wait to see the finished product!

I read your entire blog before realizing it was in reverse chronological order! I am dying to see how your final fireplace remodel came out ~ looking to do the same myself. Hope you keep posting and thanks!
